Dailey Puretone 50 watt head

Post by Big Jim »

My son brought this over the other day for me to troubleshoot. The tube sockets needed re-tensioning, and one was loose from the chassis and the el34 wouldn't sit all the way in because it was touching the mounting nut. I found some interesting build techniques, such as the homemade steel chassis, homemade fiberglass board, and the cool melted hot glue on the filters. Sounds pretty good now with the adjustments and a retube.
My understanding is that mr. Dailey is no longer in business. I don't think there are too many of these around. Anyway here is a gut shot.

Yep, definately in the Marshall camp. Just thought I would share a gutshot since I had it opened up. I had never seen fibreglass used for boards before. My son is selling this amp, so he wanted to make sure it was running ok before he shipped it.
