Preamp idea w. schem. Does it make any sense?

Post by Dingleberry »

Hi.

I've finally had some time to finish my projects that had been lyin around for too long... I've got 6V6 P-P project on my bench right now and it's gonna be kind of mixture of different ideas... Simple preamp - LT-P.I. - cathode bias 6V6 P-P power stage. I was thinking that could it be possible to "modify" the plexi 6V6 preamp a little and wire the volume controls "backwards"? Is there any no-no's for not to do it? Electronically/tone wise? That way they would be individual and you could get lots of tonal variations. Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember seeing volume pot wired that way in some old schematic, probably a odd gibson model or some bargain bin amp...

I think I should have taken a closer look at Tweed Deluxe schematic... That's how Leo did it like thousand years ago. I planned to ditch the "tweed type" tone control and add a "top cut" control in the end but wire it backwards thus acting like a normal "tone" control. I've got some 250K rev.Log pots that should do the job just fine.
