Magnatone 192-5

Post by C Moore »

I am rebuilding one of these amps. How do I know what wattage resistor to use for the power supply resistors? They are the 4.5k and the 10k resistors at the A-B-C nodes. Would I just use the voltage drop specs on the schematic to figure out the wattage requirements?
Thank You

The 4k5 is in place of the field coil speaker and your not replacing that with a choke so this 4k5 resistor should be of higher wattage like 3 watt flame proof and the 10k a 2 watt flame proof.

You can get by with smaller wattage but why?

Thanks Mark -
If I can make them fit, I will probably just go with 5 watts then.
Thank You
I will definitely take some readings when I am done.
Thanks Again

I enjoyed building my Gibson EH150 with 6SQ7 preamp tube and replaced the field coil with choke, a real blues amp.

Hard to get good quality octal preamp tubes for 6SQ7 that is.
