My new /old Traynor Studiomate Ygm-4 needs 8" speakers

Post by chopstuck »

I have scored / foolishly bought a Traynor 4x8 that sounds kind of cool but has two old cheap stereo speakers in the cab plus 2 new Recoton Jensen C8R speakers. This is a sealed back cab that looks like a 3/4 size Super reverb but only has about 22 watts. There good tone in there I know it but I have to get some better speakers. Any ideas on the speaker choices. I have thought about the available 8's and I don't know about much else than the *ed *ebers that are out there.

The importance of being chopstuck.

I have used those Jensen's in a few different amps. I was pleasantly surprised with the bass response. It really is a pretty decent sounding speaker......
Good Luck

Buy an old Shure vocalmaster column with 8" CTS ceramic speakers I put those in my Traynor and they sounded great. Phil

Thanks for the replies gents, I remeber seeing those Shure Vocalmasters in every pawnshop some years back. Now no more. It's even expensive to throw out stuff like large old cabinets like that nowdays so I'm going to keep on the lookout for low power 8" speakers. I have an old pair of Altec 8's I will try but with a whizzer cone I think it's not going to be pleasant.
