I need to replace the double gang 1m pot in my Marshall 2205.
Any recomendations for sources or brands of pots? I went to Mouser's site and there are so many options that I am not sure about...
Is there a resource that helps id the right ones?
Thanks,
Kevin

OK, I wasn't able to run home and take a picture so i snagged one from google images. Mine looks identical to this one. The pot in question is the dual ganged 1 Meg towards the right.

Re: Sourcing Pots
Probably the only way to get exactly the correct pot that will fit the PCB would be from Marshall or a Marshall repair center. However, you could buy anything that will fit and run some short jumpers to the board.

Re: Sourcing Pots
I was also contemplating disassembling the unit and installing new guts. The only problem with the original unit is that something seems to be bent inside. I have to pull on the shaft to get volume out of it but when i do it sounds normal.....
I found non-pcb stacked 1meg pots that will likely work so your suggestion might end up being used.

Re: Sourcing Pots
Do you like your Marshall's tone and performance?
I think if it were me and I didn't absolutely love that amp I would either
A) sell it and buy a Metro kit
B) gut it and install Metro guts.
Those boys over at Metro make excellent Marshall kits and the tone on them is awesome.

Re: Sourcing Pots
Well, to end the saga, I ended up taking the pot apart and bending the contacts a little wiht a sewing needle to get them to ride on a previous unused part of the carbon. Also had to bend the secondary contact about a 1/16th of an inch to make a consistent solid connection. A little pot cleaner/lube and the thing seems to be working fine. BTW, those PCB traces are quite delicate.
And the answer is yes! I'm very interest in a metro kit!
