This guy I know has a Fender Pro Jr. he wants me to turn into a handwired amp. I'm thinking of taking him up on it. It would be just to mess around and give me a little more experience building. We want to keep it on the cheaper side so we want to reuse the same transformers, pots, cab, speaker.
Is there anybody that can give me any suggestions?
Cheers.

An 18watt lite, carmen ghia, half power stangray. Non of those are ss rectified, so you'd have to tweak the power supply a bit.

Thank you, I think buddy bailed but an 18 watt lite sounds like it might be a fun build.
On another note if you have a chassis that has cutouts for octal sockets, is there anyway to fit a 9 pin socket in the hole?

My PJ has been an 18 Watt LiteIIb, a single channel Deluxe 6G3, a Princeton and is now a Spitfire with a 10" Greenback and a VVR circuit. Fabulous little amp that is very versatile, small and light - ideal home or gab and go amp.

You can stick a 9-pin thru the chassis on a sub board inside the unit.
It fairly common with amps with a pcb. If the hole is large enough you can
mount the whole socket and tube shield inside, thru the chassis, ground the shield.

Or if you want the socket mounted on the chassis, take a piece of sheet metal and screw it to cover the existing hole then drill the proper sized hole for the 9 pin socket.

I recently noticed that Tube Depot just started selling adapters for this purpose, some other guys probably do too. Basically, exactly what Structo describes.
