I've stayed with 250pf across the volume pot, with a switch for bright.
Speaker selection is very critical on the Spitfire.
As I mentioned I had it connected to a G12M70...which should not have been good, but it was.
Then a Rola alnico 12" 15 watt which happened to really do the trick.
Tube selection for the EL84's makes a big difference as well.
Although my prior build pictured above shows Sovtek...those are for firing up only.
Ended up with a pair of used but still OK Holland Amperex tubes.

I tried the 47pf it works but it also kills the sweetness. Then i went to my instructors made him drag out his tornado, it sounds so close to its remarkable. just going to leave it stock for now. The tone control is working better so i may have had a bad solder joint. I have a used set of ruby 12 ax7 and gt powers in it right what i had on hand. Oh been running through a weber blue dog and a celestion elite 80.
