This is what I've been doing as well. Does anyone know where to get the same type thing, but with eyelets? I know that a lot of folks sell eyelet boards for specific circuits, but any generic ,say, 30x2rows out there?
I did not have good luck with those tube depot turrets. Every once in a while you'll get one that solder will simply not stick to - also, they break easily compared to the Watts turrets. The last thing you want to do while stuffing a board is to pull a turret out and replace it because it has oxidized.
That said, they are very easy to install with their little tool and a hammer. I keep a few around in case I need to add a turret but I can not recommend them for a complete board
yeah, the quality of the plating is pretty important.
I had one batch maybe 12 years ago that the plating was bad on
it was almost impossible to get solder to stick to the lug
I sent them back to my machine shop guy that makes them for me
He uses an outside source to plate the lugs after they come off his screw machine.
Was not his fault, was the plating guys fault.
