I usually throw my 2p into bass amp threads earlier...can't help myself...I'm taking pills for it, anyway: My lifelong survey indicates that there are two sucessful bass pre-amp designs out there. You either go Ampeg(Baxandall) or Fender(FMV). I've owned a V4-B, a Music Man HD-130, and I built an Alembic F2-B to save my back. I prefer the Fender obviously. The Ampeg is great too...especially the V series.

I can't disagree with anything here. In the 60's I played a P-Bass through a B-15 and a B-18. I'll bet it was a total of about 60 watts but I felt like I could knock over walls with a low E. I'd take the head off the B-18, put a piece of plywood over the slot and stack the B-15 on top.

I too have MM, but it's a 65, the bass player in my band uses a V4 that I overhauled about a year ago, great punch and grit.

I'm liking the Bax over the FMV.

I have a question.

I know the FMV is the Fender stack but what do the letters stand for?
