Thanks for all the advice guys.
I talked with Bruce the other day.
I'll probably be picking up his 5e3 kit with the mercury mag OT and Humbucker I&II and PI mods, NOS 12AY7 and his STK cap upgrade. I'll pick up his cab too.
Then I'll throw in a Weber 12A125.
Even with my Fender discount I'll be able to make this for about 600 cheaper than I can get their new '57 Deluxe reissue. I bet its gonna sound way better too.
FWIW: the PT is specially wound so you don't need a zener.

Way back when, Bruce used a true vintage spec PT, thus the zener trick. Cool that he's got a new custom wound unit.
