So's the personnel. The talent that built Telefunkens, long since retired.
Does New Sensor multitude of purchased brand names equate to the same tubes built on the same tooling?
Neither the tooling nor the talented workers. Just the logo. We should pay a premium for the paint, according to Saint Mike of New Sensor.
The Northern Electric tube is a TJ Full Music (based on the Mullard box plate) You can source these for about 1/2 On ebay from sellers from China.
$30 each, plus shipping, I'll stick with what I know works. Sorry TJ, you're going to have to forego some excess profit before this old Scotsman bites.
Cheaper tubes exist, but the life expectancy or longevity isn't as good.
TJ - "Northern Electric" - still new on the market. Who knows what's the longevity. If/when I have problems no recourse, no warranty.

FWIW Ruby did market a "different" Chinese tube for a short time @ 5 years ago. Short, dark plate. Maybe these were TJ? Nothing but trouble. Ruby stopped carrying them in less than a year.
I had a Electro Harmonics 12AX7 give up the ghost (although the sound was excellent while it lasted) in a PI in a tube stereo after a short time. The JJ 12AX7 lasted equally as short (cracked) but was better sounding than the NOS GE tubes shipped with the stereo. The shuguang Jolida branded replacements still occupy the same positions years later and sound better than the JJ or EH or NOS GE tubes in the position
EH and some other Sovtek/New Sensor 12AX7's (LXP for instance) don't like high potentials between filaments and cathodes. 30-40-50V is "high potential" apparently. Unlike some good ol' 12AX's I regularly see with 200V & more on the cathode, and don't break down.
Your mileage may vary,

Steve
Always good to see what you have to write Steve!
