My readings were incorrect because of my extreme noobness not a weak battery in my DMM. I measured from anode side of resistor to ground side of resistor - Dooh! Correct readings are with 400 ohm Cathode resistor & 360 ohm Screen resistor/ Plate voltage still 394V:That's very hot. 0.17 is the mA value (170 mA) combined plate and g2 current. Effective plate voltage is 309 (394-85). Static dissipation for plate and screen, then, is 0.17 X 309 =52.5. Plate and screen should both be unhappy. Rk should be getting awfully hot, too. The tube does not like that amp, unless something else is wrong.
28.4V DC divided by 400 ohm = .071 (71ma)
394V HT - 28.4V = 365.6V
.071 X 365.6V = 25.96 or 26watts
That seems to be a more reasonable reading, no?
Grid voltage is 0v, that is, measured from grid pin to ground.
