I wasn't specific. I've moved the caps around on all sorts of layouts. It's the holes in the board and the way Martin dressed the pin leads. Exceptionally well thought out.

Here's rj's PCB Express, which was the inspiration for my eyelet board Express adaptation. The distributed power supply is a great improvement over the original KF layout, kudos to rj for that. His preamp component layout is very similar to the original Express board, but it does go in the direction of moving the components closer to the tube sockets and shortening the leads. In my Express, I pretty much ignored the original parts placement, rearranged the rectifiers and bias supply, and used the space between the sockets. The more the tube sockets are surrounded with components, the shorter the leads become, and the more three-dimensional the wiring can become. That's really my only innovation beyond what rj did. The tube complement in the Express is the same as the 50W Marshall, and that started the wheels turning for doing Jana's amp in this style. I didn't even have to look at the Marshall layout- I just changed values where necessary, added a few more components, and hooked up the unused triode.

Resurecting this thread to post a couple of pics, showing the amp in it's new Amp Nation-built home. After a lot of back and forth discussion, Taylor and I arrived at this design which is based on the JMP-era Marshall head cabs. Recall this is a Trainwreck-sized chassis, and I was looking to get something that looks like a Marshall, but with a Boutique flair. The covering is a soft-textured ivy-green marine vinyl that Taylor recommended, which feels like leather. It has genuine Marshall nylon corners (which require a larger roundover radius), and all the hardware is stainless to keep with the black and silver theme of the panels. Many thanks to Taylor for working with me on the design, which amounted to a number of hours that he really doesn't get paid for, as well as some new tooling and R&D on the production side. I think it'll turn some heads!

rp, IMO the laser faceplates are very much worth the cost for the production look and durability, and if you have the software, it's easy too. Here BNP was able to use a .pdf that I generated from PowerPoint. A PC board for this amp could be done, but it'd require some investment of time and money to make a run. The eyelet board really wasn't hard to do; a bi-metal hole saw and a drill press made the large holes, half-way in from each side, othewise it's business as usual.

Jana, I'm getting very good results from your suggestion to put clean boost in front for Stat's- the MXR Microamp clone I'm using gets it done nicely!
