May I say welcome to you sneakers563 and thanks for jogging my memory on that thread!

On the 2nd of April Ian was going to test the OT. I did not hear anything after that, so sadly we are still in the dark about the OT ratio.

If I was doing this one I would try the Weber OT as Mark suggested. Even if it did not work out, that would be an interesting OT to have around for other ideas.

There are a few other open ends too. I never got to understand why B+1 and B+2 both were measured at 323V. Also, I am very sure that I made a false assumption about R37 being on the cap can. The resistor on the cap can looks to me like it is the 15K R36, which would account for the small size. The R37 1K5 is somewhere else.

I wish I could advise on the tone stack, but not even having seen a Silvertone over here, let alone play one, showsii (Ian) is your best bet. Perhaps you should should shoot him a PM. It was always a pleasure to discuss his projects with him.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes, tony

I've seen that Weber OT, but I believe they came up with that for a planned 1484 kit that never materialized. The question is whether the 1483 had the same 4K primary.

Incidentally, if showsii is still listening, how effective is the tone stack for guitar? It seems quite primitive. It looks like they used the same stack in the 1474, but they switched to a Baxandall design for the 1484 and 1485.

For my build, I'm thinking about swapping in a different stack on one of the channels, either the 1484 stack or the ubiquitous blackface Fender stack.
Hello!

It has been a while since I've updated everyone about this build, I apologize for that! Life got VERY busy shortly after I embarked on this project. Also i have been finishing up my second rocket for a friend! Needless to say the silvertone is next in line!

So, I did not get a chance to measure the OT properly, because I had to give it back sooner than I thought! (also kept buying a dc power supply instead of an AC supply to perform the testing :/ ) Tony the information gave me was very, very helpful and I know ill be measuring some other OT soon enough!

Ok, so I bought the weber OT and an Edcore PT from RJ. I'll post the specs after while on the PT, can't remember them right now. I have the chasis ready and all resistors. All I have left is too get y'all to double check my layout and grounding and I just be good to start cutting my chasis!
Sneakers..
Please keep me updated with your progress. I would love to compare layouts and double check some values of a few things I wasn't too sure off.

As for the tone stack, I found it semi usable. The purpose of building this amp in the first place was too keep it as close to the original as possible because it is for a friend who loves it. I also love the amp so if I can get some sound out of this puppy with everyone's help I want to build a second for my self with maybe a more practical stack. When I was playing with the amp I turned everything to 10. Sounded great. The amp is a little boomy for my taste but hey, it's suppose to be a bass amp.

Hopefully I'll get this thing started soon so we all can dive back into it and maybe get a cool sounding amp in the process. MAYBE, it's all about the learning process right?
