Ideal Industries Stripmaster 45-174 is the best one I've tried. 16-26 ga....
We use them at work, but they are expensive little critters..150-200 $........unless there are 2nd hand ones....??
Reports claim that the lite versions work OK too, but I've never tried those.

Re: Anyone use teflon wire
The trouble with teflon is not so much cutting it, but gripping it to pull the insulation off. I made one stripper out of an old soldering ironing (posted about that in another thread.) Then I came up with this:
I made this little gripper out of a plastic clip and 2 pieces of scrap wood glued on with hot glue. After I clamp the wire, I grip the end with the wood in one hand and then use a $6 stripper in the other. You have to practice to get the right amount of tension on the cutter so as not to cut any wire. Sometimes in a tight spot I grab the wire with pliers that I wrapped with some insulation stripped off some 10-3 house wiring.
As far as liking teflon, in the future I am going to try using PVC for most of the amp and reserve Teflon for the tight spots. Teflon is a pain. ALso, I think PVC looks better when you get down to the amp porn pix

Re: Anyone use teflon wire
You can use standard strippers but they have to fit perfect and be sharp.jcr1234 wrote:I have been thinking of using teflon wire in my next build because the insulation is thinner than pvc insulated wire and if you bump it with the iron it wont burn.
Is there anything I need to be concerned about?
Re: Anyone use teflon wire
Heheheh, yeah I bought an expensive pair of auto strippers and was shocked when I couldn't use it to strip the Teflon.
So I got out my $3.55 pair of scissor type strippers and they worked.
But I still prefer to use a sharp knife.

For about 30 yrs I've used this Ideal Stripmaster for teflon, stranded and solid. They look to be about $35-40 now? Replaceable blades.
Re: Anyone use teflon wire
What model Ideal stripper do you use?
There are many pages of Ideal strippers there.

That link didn't work too well. It looks like a Ideal 45-097. I use the 16-26 ga blade, but it came with a couple of other sizes and some other attachments (I don't use).Structo wrote:What model Ideal stripper do you use?

Re: Anyone use teflon wire
Mine was less than $20 at Menards home building supply.
Oh and it cuts but doesn't strip even when I lay the $1 down.
