So on a safety note. I am going to implement a thin shield under the board. I could use some recommends on material type and how to glue that to the metal surface.
Thanks

Re: VVR type 2 in a Rocket Reverb amp
I have used that very MOSFET several times over the years. Works great and lower cost than the NTE. Also, easier to find.angelodp wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 6:39 pm There is a clear shield under the Mosfet that came with the kit. The board is a bit close for comfort. At any rate, I bypassed the VVR and made the connection to the standby, as in the original and the amp is fine and working. I guess I'll get a replacement Mosfet STW12NK90Z looks like it will work fine. Truth is I don't often use the VVR. I have seen where an additional cap can be installed for further protection on the VVR.
Clear mica is fine. I read where a lot of the guys doing hi-fi repairs seem to prefer the silipads. They work well, and a plus is that you can see it if you drop it.

Thanks
So I did source another NTE2973.
Question
The original reads NTE 2973 082M
The New one NTE 2973 203J
Is that four number/letter code after the NTE 2973 significant or is a date code or something?
If it says NTE 2973 regardless of the other numbers, are they all the same?

Should be... the others numbers maybe a manufacturer or date code.

New Mosfet works, amp is back in business with now a safer shield in place.
