If you need to knock the gain down more, you could split the plate resistor into two series resistors and take the output off the junction. Fender did that with the second stage of the 6G3 Deluxe.

I tried several things and none got near what I really wanted so I reverted back to similar place where I started.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Not only does it have LNFB around V1, but there is a NFB loop from the plate of the 4th stage to the cathode of the third stage. It's the same idea as in the Thunderbird that I showed, but without the switch complicating things.

You can add a potentiometer in series with by cathode bypassing cap and set the amount of degenerative feedback you want.
Based on standard Rk values, 25k log would be perfect imho for this application.
