So what if he is eccentric. His steampunk designs are kind of cool looking. Who knows if they sound good. I don't think he is a threat to anyone. If he is annoying, don't subject yourself to his thread(s)… I look at it every once in a while but am not that compelled to really follow, yet alone participate.

Is he really that offensive to you guys? Seems like he's trying to understand this stuff in the way he can understand. I wish him luck.

I would agree, and honestly it's been fun to see Merlin's responses. 8)

Other than being led on a bit by playing dumb (neophyte in Gerry's terms) and wasting some time in the process, I can't say he's really causing any harm. I also can't stay out of that thread. It's one of those once in a blue moon, all encompassing threads. You've got anger, humor, great information from some very knowledgeable fellow members and an OP that is more stubborn than a wet mule trying to hash out an alternate theory to the universe.

I tried to get into it but got lost rather quickly... I don't see the harm though. He seems like a nice enough guy. What he had up for sale on eBay looked cool.

I'm sure he is not the only one who annoys people here. Most of us have touched a nerve at one time or another.

I will probably read through all the pages of it to find some humor now that I know to look for it.

I guess no one told him some of the he smartest people on the planet worked with tube technology for over a half a century.of course in his eyes his smarter than all them people.
Yes Merlin provided some great information but there is no way I could wade through the bs. Once you start talkin bout nozzles and pressure tanks and paddle wheels I'm out.

Sometimes people blow through here who are in some way needy or annoying. Such is life in this electronic age. It's like that annoying guy in the bar who won't stop talking to you when you are interested in the attractive woman who's sitting next to you on the other side. No matter how much of a hint you give him, without bashing him on the head with an iron skillet, he won't get it. So, the dilemma is whether to be polite or rude.

I know I participated earlier in this thread (just a minor attempt at humor) and I can't unring that bell. Nevertheless, this is a rather mean spirited way to go about uninviting someone. I'm thinking the poll and this tread have run their course and that the mods should nuke it.

As for the other thread, those who participated gave it life. Actions have consequences. I'll vote with the others who say that you don't have to read it and you don't have to answer.

You can say that, but it does not change the reality that it is divisive and therefore harmful to the community.

I like his style--Curious with a capital C, fearless, and probably totally bent. Not unlike many of us, here.
You have to abstain on this one since you're the one that encouraged him to be here in the first place. :P So, in some way, it's your fault. Let's not have any wadded panties, I'm just kidding, kinda.

I was waiting this thread. We are reacting in standard, expected ways from standard, expected actions.

Cbass, can you add the option "I want a copy of the psycological thesis on TAG users' reaction to destabilising effects"?

Guilty as charged.

Still, if I could choose whether my community had a little animated discussion and difference of opinion, I would always vote YES.
