I receaved my resistors today i order from allied, The BC component vishay 1 watts are tiny, there smaller than 1/4 watt from radiohack plus there only 2 3/4 inch long anyone use these? or maybe have a pix of a amp with then in it? I ordered all the most commen values in the BC comp so i got a lot of them. mark

One more thing: Resistors have max voltage ratings. Most common 1/2W carbon film and metal film resistors are rated for no more than 350V. and have poor surge capability when compared to carbon composition. For power supply resistors that are subjected to turn-on transients, it is best to go with a resistor that can handle the added transient stress.

Ohmite has a OX/OY series of ceramic composition resistors which are designed specifically for high surge, high peak power, and high voltage use, and as replacements for carbon composition resistors. They can withstand 500V (OX series) or 750V (OY series). They are available in 1W (OX) and 2W (OY) power ratings and values up to 1Meg, but only come in 10% tolerance. They would make ideal bleeder resistors or supply dropping resistors.
