wow... you're entirely right. My amp is setted an i never touch any setting.
Man you're have great idea ! But i don't think i'm gonna mess with this amp too much, i'm gonna play it unchanged and look for another amp. 1W is enough for my needs. except the Lil Devil (trainwreck clone) from hall amplification is there a another great cheap boutique amp around 1-2 Watt ?
or should i build an amp with the preamp of one and the power amp of another?

Reporting on 10thTx's suggestion of substituting a 6K6 for a 6V6.., I tried it today, 20% less volume, a bit cleaner, still some crunch at max volume. Not a 6V6 but a quieter approximation of the same.

Maybe you're using the wrong amp!
The "tone" is very good but too much volume for my needs.
the 6k6 option with a attenuator on low setting might be the way to go.
