so now i've tried to recreate the problem by knocking around the amp and moving connectors with a chopstick, its working fine now, but there definitely seems to be a problem somewhere maybe a loose connector from the bias supply perhaps ??.

Bummer if you can't return it. Thought the info might allow you to get a start on where the problem may lie and hopefully you could then get it repaired.

ok so i think i found the problem, i have set my bias to -110v which is max i can get, hooked up my DMM to pin 5 and started poking around, i saw a suspected cap near the bias trim (C37) that looked kinda damaged, as i poked it the reading started going to -1.5v. so that cap definitely is part of the problem.

here's a picture.

now i need to know the value of this cap

Looks like the first three digits are 104 = 100,000pF = 0.1uF

Ah, unless you can find a schematic you'll have to lift it or snip it out to get a look at the other side.

I had to fix a brand new Blackstar in a local guitar shop. I found the problem right away a connector was loose and presto the amp was back to working.

I think Quality Control is the main issue on these amps. Usually the grille cloth come all loose on the combo amps too.

That looks to be a polystyrene cap.

They are different looking as they aren't coated with epoxy or anything.
