thats the 47k resistor under the heat shrink and a ground was added from the reverb cable shield to the metal switch enclosure

Thanks for this advice milkman!

On occasion I've converted the amp end of the cables to quarter inch angle plugs - switchcraft 226 - and mating quarter inch jacks on the amp back panel. Much tougher than most cheezy phono plugs. The angle RCA's in your photo look like they could be roadworthy though. Where do you get them?
