Not made at the same factory, but both made in Russia ( Winged C at JSC Svetlana in St. Petersberg and Tung-Sol at Reflektor in Saratov which also makes the reissue Mullards, Gold Lion, Electro Harminix, and Sovtek brand tubes). The dollar has been falling against the ruble - so both of those companies haven't really raised there prices I don't believe, the dollar just doesn't buy as much there anymore.

I noticed this about a week ago, kinda sad. The Tung-Sol's have been around $50 for a while though. I probably won't be buying Winged -C- anymore unless someone requests them.

Unfortunately this is the very tip of the iceberg I'm afraid.

6L6GC are still $54.50 a pair while stocks last. This guy is good, his matching and testing skills are very good. Since I always pay a fair bit more for shipping than people living in the USA, when I buy tubes that aren't cheap, as in more than $4 or $5 each, I always get them from this guy. He sells other stuff too, wire, components etc. I got a matched quad of JJ EL84 from him last year, very good price, they all biased up within a mA of each other. He also tests signal tubes for microphonics. To find a tube on his page, easiest to use "Ctrl F".

I think we'll start seeing these price increases across the board. I don't know the exact metallurgical make up of the parts in vacuum tubes but I'm willing to bet there are some rare earth elements in the tubes.

With China restricting the amount of those that they ship out its going to drive the price of anything using those up. The price of metal across the board is going up too though.

I really like the tone of the Tung Sol power tubes but they don't seem to last as long as the Sovtek or JJ/Tesla. At the moment the JJ's are the best bang for the buck.
