Fender amp reverb impedence question! a brilliant idea

Post by sidehatch »

I was in the studio yesterday working on my record and the engineer put on a eventide modultaed reverb plug in. It is simply a pitch bend vibrato applied to the reverb only and not on the guitar .

I started looking for a pedal to do it and tried a few at GC but even though they have that effect it wasn't as extreme. I think to nail it I'll need an expensive rack unit.

So on to my idea.

I came out of my reverb unit into a homemade cable and patched a pitch bend vibrato in the reverb circuit. Basically, Its goinginto the chorus unit after the signal leaves the tank and goes back into the amp.

It is almost that exact sound!! I love it. Now what Im wondering is what kind of impedence mismatch there is and if its harmful and what can be done about it.

I plan on wiring it up like this and leaving teh pedal inside the amp so you see it.

Thanks for any input!

The input to the pedal is probably higher impedance than what the tank was driving before (so easier to drive) and the output is going to be lower than the output of the tank, so it can drive the snot out of whatever it is hooked up to.

It seems that the impedance matching situation is probably improved with the pedal in there.

If it sounds good, what is the problem?

It does sound good and Im happy with it. I'd like to use it on tomorrows gig but I just wanted assurance it was ok to do as far as hurting the amp.

Thanks for your help!~!!

Try it if you are into those sounds!!

I have found that its a great little fx loop for a fender amp. . I like delay in ther and even compression. You dont really hear the effect like in an fx loop because it mixes with the reverb.

Its really cool!
