Blues Jr. Conversions..

Post by Deric »

Anyone here ever done a Blues Jr. conversion?

I recently aquired a hammered one and while searching for a schem and or mods I came accross s2's site. The 18watt/5e3 combo looks pretty cool and I probably have most of the parts out in the garage allready...including an unused 18watt OT.

Interested in any suggestions.

Thanks 8)

I would also consider a half power rocket. 8)

I've done Matchless Lightnings in a few. You have to add a middle control to keep the chassis layout the same. Keeping the bottom preamp tube socket mount PCB is as simple as cutting a few traces to make it work, as is running an LED for the indicator.

One example

I bought a Blues Jr a few years ago to use as a donor. It sounded pretty good so I didn't have the heart to gut it and instead gave it to a family friend.

My plan was to build a Marshall 2204 with EL84 PA. Reverb control knob would have been used for presence.

Thanks for the suggestions. The amp has been gigged HARD for several years and the PCB's are toast - been modded and repaired several times. I plan on gutting and re-using the PT.

Since I was thinking about building a 5E3 anyway - and I really dig my 18 Lite IIb - I thought the combo would be cool...

Got lots of time to think about it... Need to finish up another project and then get packing for a move...
