im looken for a project iv got some 6l6 tubes on hand i like a hard to heavy tone something with alot of gain. im new to building need a proven build any ideas???

Are you talking about the old metal 6L6 or glass 6L6G or 6L6GC? Your question covers a tremendous amount of ground. I think it's more important as a new builder to pick a simpler project rather than try to match a project to an expected outcome. Having said that, a 5F6 Bassman is a notoriously lovely tone, simple, and the amp that John Marshall based his JTM 45 upon. It overdrives incredibly well and takes pedals. So put a tube screamer in front.

i have some nos national gold line 6l6gc that tested great, then i have some. mesa branded 6l6gc i just bought. maybe ill do a bassman with sozo caps that would pretty much make it jmt i dont have a power trany for 4 tube only 2 tubes. where can i find th layout

The simplest amp you can build with a pair of 6L6s might be a Prolux. That's a tweed Deluxe built with 6L6 tubes instead of 6V6s. The 250 ohm bias resistor is correct for 6L6s so you don't have to fuss with fixed bias. Many repro Deluxe PTs will run 6L6s without breaking a sweat. You'd probably want to use an output transformer suited for 6L6s rather than 6V6s or go multitapped and switch back and forth. Use a 5E3 layout. Easy and fun!

thanks structo i used ceriatone for my 18 tmb. here a pix it came out nice these are the 6l6 tranys pretty heafty maybe i should do a bassman marshall type build. that 18s mv channel screams got great overtones im realy diggen it the norman channel doesnt get very load but is a nice rich clean tone when i jump them its very full sounding the amp is very quiet overall i am surprissed
