I have a Silvertone 1483 head that needs a cap job. One internal 16uf 450 volt; no big deal to find those. However, it has a 3 section cap can that looks like a 20-10-5 450 Volt. Where can I find these? If I can't get an exact match, what could I substitute for it? I would prefer to stay with a cap can if possible to preserve the look of the amp. Thanks!

I think weber will make custom value cap cans. If it isn't weber, then it is somewhere else I saw recently, but I know there is someplace out there that will do custom values.
Exact science is not an exact science
Re: Parts source
You could always just snip the leads to the can and sub axials. It may require some creative mounting (additional terminal strips), but electrically will be the same and the amp will look stock from the outside.
Re: Parts source
Yes, I think the modern cap cans just have individual electro caps inside.
Since modern electrolyte caps are so much smaller than the old ones, you could gut that can and put new caps inside it.

Re: Parts source
All the recent production can caps I have seen are 20uF and above. You probably won't find anything with the 10 and 5 uF values.
If it were me, and the 20uF is the first filter after the rectifier, I would just substitute a 3 x 20uF cap as recommended above.

Re: Parts source
Yeah, Weber will do the custom can caps.
Re: Parts source
You should be able to find 3x 20u 450v. Just use that, or even a 4 section if you find it and just put heatshrink over the unused terminal.bentonar18 wrote:I have a Silvertone 1483 head that needs a cap job. Or there is a F&T 8-8, which would be fine in place of the 10-5, and you can work in a single 20 inside the chassis.
You are going to pay a small fortune to get a can that is 20-10-5 all sections at 450v. I wouldn't do it.
