Anyone figure out the PA blend control?

Post by allsavy »

I'd like to blend a #4 SE (???) el84 parallel with my x2 6l6 PP Output section
(Me thinks the Rebel 20 amp is capable of this)
and possibly control the amount of blend with an expression pedal.

I know.... just a/b another amp !!!! ok ok but I like tweaking better.

Any ideas?

I saw someone ask this same question and not sure if it was on this forum or 18watt.com?

I will try and figure out where I saw this.

A friend of mine (Harvey Gerlitz) did just that with an amp he marketed. It was called the G1 Revelator .
It had a blackface/ Plexi preamp that had a solid state output.
But he did it a lot better than Marshall or anybody else had done with a SS output.

I don't see his website up anymore.
Basically he had an engineer friend and between them they built it to military specs.
It had a foot pedal that could blend in real time between the blackface and plexi.
I wanted one but they were like $1,600 at the time for the combo.
He always got good reviews on it. He just couldn't sustain the business.
They built it so good that the profit margin wasn't there.
He makes other guitar care products like fret board oil, wax and some others.

It would seem that amp is both a black face fender and an 18 watt marshall under one roof but the power amp is solid state. Not quite the same topology as what I'm dealing with.
Cool amp though...shame they hade to quit.

Ask Gary Moore, he totally invented this ;)
