ideal speaker for champ ?
I'm making the cabinet for my champ (non traditional). I'm curious about what a decent speaker would be ? I can't afford to spend a ton and is IS my first amp. Suggestions in the 50-60 dollar range ?? Am I way out of line on the price ?

If you want to put a 10" speaker in there, I can recommend the Weber Vintage 10 with the aged cone. Very nice right out of the box. I'm putting one of those in an amp right now for a guy.

You didn't mention what size spkr you want.
From what I hear most guys like the Weber's when going the 8" route.

I put the Weber in my blackface Champ - sounds very good.

I'd like to stick an 8" in there. I guess I'm curious about wattage.... how delicate is it with such a low watt amp ?
Re: ideal speaker for champ ?
What do you mean by "delicate"? Do you want to use a speaker with a different power rating? Or are you looking to increase the output by going to a different power stage?
Re: ideal speaker for champ ?
Delicate? Have you played a champ through a nice 12" speaker? It kicks butt. Just make sure the speaker is properly rated, which should be fairly easy to do.

The Weber Sig 8S nails vintage Champ tone. The alnico version is so close to an old P8R it will make a genuine P8R look for a hole to crawl into.
The less expensive ceramic Sig 8S is a little cleaner and a little more articulate.
Either speaker is cheap.
It's not very likely you'll blow one in normal use with a Champ replica. "Normal use" with a Champ means plug straight in, turn it all the way up and grin.
If you're not going for an "authentic" Champ tone your choices are wide open. Use whatever you use for your other amps. Surprise yourself!
