bridge rectified 5V tap for DC preamp heaters ?

Post by deiseldave »

Will this work ? I've haven't read about anyone doing it before, but it seems like it should work just fine.
Would someone please enlighten me on this ? Thanks.

I used a 4 diode bridge made of 1N5821 diodes, dropped a little more with a series UF4007, then filtered it with a 5,000uF/16V cap. Yeilded about 6Vdc. Had I used a Schottky diode, instead of the UF4007, I could have dialed it in to about 6.4Vdc.
