I'll bet if a guy was really clever he could fill the weave of the grill cloth at the center of each speaker with spray adhesive after tolexing the cab.

If you can't find UF4007 in your area, try bypassing the 1N4007s with .01mfd 1000VDC ceramic caps (1 for each diode) Seems to work well in Fender amps I've built. Have fun!

This is an old timey fix and I'm surprised it isn't used more.

I use both UF4007s and Fairchild stealth diodes. The fairchild ones come in a nice 1000volt double cathode single anode for full wave use. They are really dandy and small footprint. TO-220 but you only need one. I just built a bridge using 4 of the single diode package and they worked out well.
It isnt needed with modern rectifier diodes which are being replaced by UF it was used to combat EMI due to diode reverse recovery. The key point here is that you do not want high Q parts for this application, you want them VERY lossy at the EMI frequencies. You want to find the worse possible parts available. but it is much easier just to use modern UF diodes. I doubt you would hear a difference. It was to prevent EMI going back to the wall. UF4007 are becomming the standard
