Guys,
Sorry for going so long without posting some of my builds. It's been a crazy year for work travel. I just got this back from the guy who's gonna buy it so I could properly document it. It's sort of tweed-meets-BF verb.
The first tube is 6SL7 for nice fatness. I've got an adjustable boost on the first gain stage. There are also verb dwell and tone knobs on the back. I started out with two Warehouse Speakers 10s, but Charlie liked the combo better--lots of breakup on the WG 10, with smooth cleans on the Lil Buddy hempcone. This thing has god of Thunder bass--really makes the Charlie's tele snap. Instead of two inputs with different sensitivity, I put a three way switch over the input--it's easier for Charlie to work during a set than plug/unplug.

Re: New Amp: Mustang
Very nice looking!
Adjustable gain?
Like an overdrive?

Cygnus X1,
Thanks for your compliment.
The boost footswitch grounds the cathode bypass cap on the first gain stage, but it does so after a 1K pot, so the boost effect is adjustable. The other footswitch function is reverb on/off. The reverb switch is the tip, and the boost is the ring, so if he wants, the owner can just stick any 1/4" plug into the footswitch jack to keep boost on all the time, if he doesn't want to mess with the footswitch.
The topology is very simple (sorry I don't even have this schematic hand drawn--it sort of just came out of my head as I was building).
V1a (6SL7) into a tweed style vol/tone network, then V1b (other half of 6SL7), then into a 2m2/20pF reverb take off resistor and a fairly standard BF verb circuit (12AT7 driver & 1/2 12AX7 recovery) with Dwell and tone on the back and the standard mix control on the front panel. V3b is the mixer stage, a la BF, after which is the Master Volume, then a standard LTP PI. The 6V6s are cathode bias, running into a Fender OT I got from Angela Instruments. The PT is Matts from Musical Power Supplies (275-0-275). The choke is whatever I got from CE Dist. Tube recto.
I used thin 3/8" pine plywood for the floating baffle and made the cab extra deep--about 11"--for really solid bass and great projection. The cab is dovetailed pine. The half-height back panel helps support the WG speaker on the bottom. I really like the way the blond tolex came out. I got that from BLT Sound and it was easy to work with.
At some point I need to get Charlie to record some clips with it, or if they record Alligator's show at the Charlottesville Pavilion at the end of July, I can post a song with him using this amp and/or the other one of mine he uses.
My summer project is a very simple amp with a single ended KT88 power section. It came alive yesterday--OMG does it breathe fire!! Even turned up stupid loud thru a WG 1265 it's very quiet. Kinda like a tweed champ with Godzilla's dna. When it's more "finished" I'll post photos and clips, too. It's skinned in red tolex sides with snakeskin tolex top/bottom. It's called the Dragon, mostly because that was a cool graphic I could add to the faceplate.
Thanks for your compliment.

Re: New Amp: Mustang
I'm in the process of building a single ended with a 6550 in it.
I'm very interested in your KT88 amp!
I'm just a newb, the amp is the AX84 SEL (single ended lead).
I wanted some 80's metal gain to play with.
Tolex?
I appreciate anyone's tolex work!
I haven't gotten that far...
That is the capper, it really makes it stand out!

Re: New Amp: Mustang
Here are some external pics of the Dragon. I've posted a close up of the faceplate so y'all can see the graphic. I made this thru http://www.designyourowncard.com/dyo -- click on the Engraved Signs tab. The editor works well, and when you click Add to Cart it shows the design in an inch-based grid so you can locate words, art, etc. They have a huge selection of clip art, and you can upload your own stuff, too. This face plate was only about $28 shipped. Ya gotta drill your own holes, but that's no big deal.
Though the amp shows a full tone stack and a reverb control, I think it's destiny lies without the verb. The tone is so thick and raw-- I may end up making two simple channels--one with 12AX7 and one with 6SL7. Who knows how it will end up? Some amps are just like that.....
I used a vintage PT from a Harmon Kardon DA35, so it puts 465 VDC on the KT88's plate. The choke is CEDist and the big honkin' OT is from Ted Weber.
