Using a standard foot switch for relay switching?

Post by Tdale »

I have two relays in my ODS clone, wired like they usually are. The coils are grounded/lifted to perform the switching.

I made a foot switch, which breaks or closes a circuit from one side of the coil to ground, and it works fine.

But now I'm about to sell the amp, and the guy buing it wants to have a jack output for the foot switch (I used a 5 pin xlr, using one of the leads for LED power).

Are most foot switches wired the same way as my home made switch? Will it work to just wire one coil to the tip and the other coil to the ring of a stereo jack, and then just plug in any standard foot switch, like a fender switch, and it'll work?
