Sound from chassis.

Post by ryanf »

Hey guys, I'm working on a Soldano SLO clone, and I've been troubleshooting with an oscilliscope and a frequency generator.

I am getting a wave up untilI get a sound coming from the chassis, which is the same frequency as the generator. The signal is going to the power tubes and being amplified, yet I still get no noise from the speaker. I dont know for sure, but I think the sound is coming from the OT (it is strongest at that end of the chassis and no physical dampening helps).

Also, I am getting full sign waves from each power tube plate (and post PI plate), but they are opposites of each other. Shouldnt each plate have a half wave coming from it.

The schematic can be seen here:

Thanks in advance,

with a dummy load attached you can and will hear the signal in the opt
and the inverter will show most of the input form
on both legs... the opt puts them together...... make sure you have a load
double check your connections from the power tubes thru the opt to the speaker
the way youve decribed it sounds like something was missed

It was a cold joint on the impedance switch. What a relief. Thanks alot!
