No Sound or anything in Soldano.

Post by Oddvar R »

Hi. Just put up my Soldano Slo Clone from C3amps and had som minor crackling in it. Thought maybe a tube problem, so I started changing tubes. Unfortunatley I accidently put in a 5881 tube where the steering pin was faulty, so I had it in the wrong way, resultang in a smoke situasion in the 470r resistor. Result: The amp turns on, voltages seem to be ok, but no sound and no anything in the speakers. I suspect issues with the OT, but I can't measure any problems so far. Any idea of what to look for?

Measure the no-signal voltage on the power supplies and all tube pins.

Try pumping the audio from the effects send jack into another amp.

Truthfully I can't see how the short you created from putting that tube in wrong which burned up that one screen resistor would have harmed the OT.

If you posted a schematic of the amps power supply then we could see if the amp has a HT fuse which I suspect is now blown.

Dead on target. Could be the B+ fuse, could be a rectifier, but highly, highly likely a power supply issue.

Extremely unlikely to be the OT.

Yes

And the Welwyn W20 Series 470 ohm 3 watt screen resistor.
