Re: Fender Ultralinear Power Supply Questions
Ditto the Bassman 70 advice. The UL Pro Reverb output transformer is beefy and will do the job. Just change the rest of the amp the Bassman preamp and you're pretty much there.

Re: Fender Ultralinear Power Supply Questions
I would like to make a note about something that is possible with the silverface Proreverbs with a master volume control and UL output stage, 1976 in peticular.
When I got mine used I was amazed at how heavy the amp was and the size it the OT, but I was underimpressed with its output wattage with a fully rebuilt power supply and strong testing new tubes.
Long story short the amp was built with a UL OT for a twin reverb, and it was that way from day 1!
These chassis's where punched out for 4 output tubes and all I can guess it that during production the OT is bolted on first and then if needed block off plates are screwed on for the unused output tubes if it was to be a 70 watt model, and mine and maybe more got put in the wrong stack of chassis 's to be competed .
I wonder if any SR amps or bandmaster reverbs got out the door fitted the same way, or maybe a 4 output tube twin reverb or Showman reverb got the door with the 2 tube output ?
If your working on one of these first off be sure to go to the Fender schematics and compare the part numbers of the OT to what you have.

When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep.

That is pretty interesting, maybe another "transition" unit as production specs shifted?
The 2 '79s that I have are only punched for two 6L6s, not sure about the actual OT transformer numbers, I would have to look.
In any case, they are dinosaurs, both in weight & volume. Thankfully the one I just completed has wheels...
