Knight KN3050 Score and More

Post by dorrisant »

I got this today at a monthly flea market... I had feeling that I should stop by when on the way to the grocery. Stopped by for a quick walk through. The last booth belongs to a customer of mine... I completely rebuilt a Gibson amp for him a couple of years ago. I asked how it was working for him and he was all smiles and accolades. I saw this and he said $40. I had $35 on me. He took that and threw in a Vox MV50 (50 watts with a Nutube that fits in the palm of your hand) for free!! Double score!!

I didn't even look the gift horse in the mouth, paid my cash and respects and jetted home. I opened up the Knight and found it to be absolutely factory, nothing ever changed. And the best news... Two Amperex 6CA7s that test like brand new!! The four 12AX7s were all Raytheon with a GE 6AV6 in there too. It has two beefy looking octal input TXs... They may not be Altecs but are still cool and useful. Gonna have fun rebuilding this thing at some point, and reusing the meter is a must. It is way too cool to leave out.

Looks like I have another platform to "monkey" around with. Sorry to steal your term Xtian, but I think you'll approve.

My question for you guys is: Does anyone have a schematic for a KN3050? I can find a KN3035 but no dice with this model.

Nice clean one!

Those knobs are the same as used on Silvertone guitar amps and like Hen’s teeth to find as priced as such, you have 9 of them!
When I die, I want to go like my Grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming like the passengers in his car!

Cutting out a man's tongue does not mean he’s a liar, but it does show that you fear the truth he might speak about you!

Yes... 9 more to go with about 20 more than I already have.

Ok. I found a schematic at this link...

https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/allied_ra ... er_kn.html#

I'll have to wait until they send me the full resolution image.

Funny, I paid for a membership ($25) with them several years ago, supposed to get unlimited downloads. I was doing a lot of radio rebuilds as well as checking specs on some of the old PAs I was repurposing at the time. That unlimited worked for about a week or two. I complained several times and they told me that the site is run by volunteers who work on priorities first. I made my required contributions, just waiting for them... since 9/22.

Gutshot for now.

Nice & clean on the inside also, you get away without a schematic.

Gutshot for now.
Radiomuseum does not send full rez schematics. Instead, they email a link to a web page where you can download the full size schematic. This usually only takes a few minutes to get the email. I just downloaded the full-size Knight schematic. Only took a couple minutes.

Your gutshot image is the same as available at radiomuseum but it doesn't have the radiomuesum water mark. Did you find that image somewhere else?

Of course! As long as you stipulate that monkeys often get into trouble...

Ah, I see. So, you are Anthony Dorris and you uploaded that pic to radiomuseum.

Yes. That is my upload. Funny, it takes them years to address my problems with them, but they can certainly take my upload and publish it over night. Priorities!

Just a guess... Maybe the upload/publish is handled automatically via the software but straightening out someone's account probably requires a person, mouse, and keyboard.

Everytime I visit the site I think I should become a member, but I only go there maybe four times a year. I do appreciate what they offer. Maybe I'll join next time.

When I upload, it doesn't happen instantly and I get a message that an admin will have to review it before it gets posted. Being in Europe, someone posted it very early this morning.

I still think that member issues are extreme low priority compared to posting gutshots.
