Jet City Retrovalves designed by Doug Roberts

Post by xtian »

The post about the compactron reminded me of these Jet City Retrovalves. They have a fairly complex circuit, and in my experience, they sound great as overdriven 12A?7 replacements. But they're no longer available anywhere, used or not. I decided to open my last remaining one, and promptly destroyed it in the effort. :( Seems to me, now that preamp tubes are three times the price they were when Retrovalves were introduced, they might be marketable again.

first time seen that but IMO with so much electronic with high-ish voltage and pcbs on small place cannot be reliable..
why they are not produced anymore? so something is not ok?
