I am thinking more more. Since I am running on load boxes I can decide how hard to drive the back vs the front.. s'what i'm thinking. I stiffen my amps up to make them thump maybe this adds a little sear factor if I find a nice curve somewhere around half volume on the master.

And balance the pi. Jees.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

the EVH 5150 50 watt uses 6L6's and the screens are 1 watt 470 ohms. . From what i understand they use 1 watters because it provides a safety mechanism almost like a fuse. Better than blowing a tranny

We routinely change screen resistors to 1-K 3-W wirewound resistors for service as well as using them in production for 6L6 tubes. EL-34's can get 5-W 2-K with modern tubes.

Modern tubes especially, will last longer. You lose a watt or two, you clip a tad smoother, but it's worth the change imho. No real "negative" from making the change.
