Hi. I am preparing a SLO Naked 20w. I ahave a Fender tweed type chassis and I wonder how close tube, 12ax7s, can be? The chassis is like a tweed chassis with room for only three tubes, I was hoping to make an extra hole in between those.
The slo is diode rectified, but I was thinking using a tube, what tube would be the best?

I've got one "ordinary gain" type amp with a pair of octal 6SL7 preamp tubes that have about 11mm between the glass part of the tube. Maybe that's helpful?
As long as there is enough metal left between sockets and it doesn't create a wiring nightmare, I say it will be OK. You can always put shields over the tubes if they are interacting. I think I'd advise using sockets that will accept shields in case they are needed.
