Bench tool projects

Anybody got any good bench top measuring tool projects? Or maybe power supplies?

I'm thinking a stand alone regulator type power supply to mimic the wall voltages of yesteryear.

Any ideas?

Top three are a Variac (you can dial up vintage voltage with that, as well as test transformers), a lightbulb current limiter, and a dummy load. There are some good examples of the last two on this site.
