Power Supply For Tube Circuit Development

Post by Pollys13a »

Are there any alternatives to the Heathkit Ip-17 regulated high voltage dc power supply?
Thanks.

If you want to take thetime to build something I have a schematic somewhere for such.
Let me know and I will try to dig it out and scan it to post up here

Not much help here or on EL34, eh? I've been waiting for Stevem to post his schematic and I'm not a member on EL34, otherwise I would have responded earlier.

You don't need a regulated supply to investigate tube behavior. I took a chassis and put four nine-pin sockets in it along with a variable unregulated power supply for the purpose of testing circuits. I've logged a staggering number of hours hovering over that thing while staring at a 'scope.

Here is a basic unregulated bench supply using a Champ PT:

I also built a higher voltage bench supply that is similar to this:

I still can’t find where I put away that build info, but I now recall that The Duncan amp pages site has PSU designers software you can down load for free.
