I may be confused but it looks like the tone pot wiring is not right, as that would just send all signal to ground immediately. I'm used to there being a ground connection on pin 3 of tone pots, not pin 1... and the wiper is connected from the 'ground' side to the middle which means the wiper would provide a path of varying resistance that would never happen because it's already dead shorted to ground. Looking, for example at the 5E3 it has a coupling cap on each stage, into a volume pot where the wiper of the volume pot of one side also goes through a cap to the tone pot. The tone pat goes to another cap, then to ground.
Could you post a photo of the wiring to the pots on the amp?
Also Sluckey doesn't the first 0.1 cap at the anode of the previous stage block the DC from getting to the grid? I don't see a cap after the two anodes on a 5E3? that just leads into the volume/tone/volume into the next stage.
I'm probably just confused... too much heat here the last few days have cooked my last few brain cells.
Edit: cleared up my wording in question to sluckey, was a bit confusing.

Re: Unverified wiring diagram for your review TAKT GA-10
Sure enough, someone had removed that cap. But I would have not figured that out. I should have figured it out, looking at other schematics but if the thing runs I thought it was OK. See attached. I installed the new cap and the thing just rocks! Before this it would play ok at some volumes but not at others.
This makes sense now. I squeezed a 10" webber into the cab. It weights as much as a boogie now...kidding.
Updated diagram coming.

Phil I will check that tone pot.

Yes Phil, I did not get the volume/tone right.
See attached with what should be needed corrections.

Re: Unverified wiring diagram for your review TAKT GA-10
That looks more like what I'd expect, BUT you shouldn't have a wire from the pin3 of the volume pot connecting to the grid and the ground, or you will dump everything to ground. Normally for a volume pot, output from the previous stage goes into pin 1, the wiper toes to the next gain stage and the third pin goes to ground. Basically that second wire in the pin three of the volume that 'jumpers' the wiper shouldn't be there.

Don't compare this to a 5E3. This circuit is grid leak biased. Cathode grounded, huge grid leak resistor and cap. All needed for grid leak bias to work. Look up grid leak bias for more info.pompeiisneaks wrote: ↑Fri Jul 02, 2021 9:17 pm Also Sluckey doesn't the first 0.1 cap at the anode of the previous stage block the DC from getting to the grid? Oh I see, so the 5M resistor allows a path of DC but if there's no coupling cap to the left side there, the dc can head off through the tone/volume stack and not do it's job at the grid... makes sense now, thanks!

Thank you everyone. That is my first attempt at a amp wiring diagram. What a patient and knowledgeable group.
Lots of mistakes on my part and you stuck with it. And with your help found a missing part. But I now understand my interesting little amp, much better.
It is working perfectly now. The little TACK GA-10 has a happy rock'n home!
