Has anyone ever built and documented an amp that used a harmonic vibrato similar to the Brown '60s Fender Concert, Pro, or Super? Is this tremelo even feasible in one of the 18watt amps, or would it be better to just use a Univibe or some other kind of pedal?
TIA

There's just such a schem over at 18watt.com. If I'm not mistaken the original marshall had trem built in. In any case the 18watt guys should be able to help.

The TMB channel of the marshall 18watt builds were originally tremolos.

I posted something specific to the 18watt amps over there. I didnt mean to restrict this discussion to the 18watt stuff here. In general, would it be reasonable to build a Brown '60s Fender harmonic vibrato tremelo type of circuit into say a Marshall, Matchless, etc., flavored clone? Or, is it easier just to get that effect out of a pedal?

I have added a tremolo to a SE amp. The parts count was trivial, and only used 1/2 of a 12AX7. However, IMHO it is not as flexible as a pedal trem unit. Mine homebrew has a depth and speed adjustment, similar to Fender type controls. However there is no waveform variation feature as on some advanced pedals. Doubt you would like it in favor of a Univibe assuming you are after R.Trower sounds. I still like the internal one I built. I added a footswicth to toggle it on/off.
If you are adding one to a Marshall type amp, may want to check the BB files at the JTM45 discussion on Yahoo groups. One version (BB45 I think) had a tremolo.
