Transformer for MIDI Switching?

Post by raveonstevie »

The picture is pretty lousy, but this transformer is mounted in the only place where there is room on the bottom of my chassis. This was installed by someone else. I’m a novice. First amp I’ve had with MIDI switching.

It hits the speaker baffle to where I can’t install the chassis into the cabinet properly. Input is 120v AC and output read 13v AC (or primary/secondary I guess).

Can I get a smaller transformer or is this required for low noise or switch pop prevention or something? It looks like another tap was cut off of the transformer, not that it matters. Just seems odd. Would be nice to cut some weight too. Thanks

Actually, I don’t even know if this is “MIDI switching.” I just need power for the relays. Thanks

Okay. I looked around. Think I got the lowdown. Delete if you like.
