Ceriatone gargoyle 50 output and choke recommendations?
I just recently put a gargoyle 50 amp kit on order with Nik at ceriatone. Im having trouble on locating an acceptable choke and output transformer for the build. Nik advised on the choke being a 5 henry with 130 DCR but i havent been able to find one that matches that. Also should i just go with a 50w jcm 800 output transformer?

Re: Ceriatone gargoyle 50 output and choke recommendations?
I'm going to start with the usual disclaimer: Sorry, I'm not sure many here are specialists in the ceriatone area. There may also be some hard feelings because Nik at Ceriatone stole most of his schematics for the hot rod builds from here and then we end up helping his sales, so it can be less than stellar for many here.
I'll do my best to say that the website http://www.ceriatone.com/hot-rodded-plexi-gargoyle-50/ says it's a hot rodded plexi. So if you go to any of the common transformer vendors, like Hoffmanamps.com or tubesandmore.com or mojotone.com that sell them, get a typical plexi transformer and choke and you'll do fine. If you're wanting to go for more high end iron you could look at the vendors that sell some of the more expensive iron like classictone, edcor or the like as well, but just make sure it is designed for a plexi and you'll be fine. (they usually will say right on them plexi or the like)
His site has horrid documentation for that amp, looks like it just has the layout, which is not much to go on, and I can't make heads nor tails of some of it, Like why is there an LM317T in it but no designation of where that connects other than
RG1, RG2, RG3? It took me some time to even find them on that board. i.e. without good descriptions and a schematic, it makes that kind of build a nightmare.
Good luck with the build, hope it goes well.

I agree with most of your points. I didnt know about nik taking schems from here. Thanks for informing me. Im still somewhat of a newbie to building amps. I just finished a mojotone studio one that i had alot of fun building and ceriatone was just the next option i came across for my 2nd build.

For my 50w high gain builds I use a Hammond 194G choke 3h 250mA
For OT I use 3 different ones Classictone, or Mojotone-Heyboer, or from CEDist.
50w OT 3k6 4/8/16
