It's a little monster of an amp but it can also do clean tones very nicely

Hi. I have just built the Stout, and I have great difficulties in making it work. It began with a loud hum, but with sound. At the moment there are no sound from the input, but the volume and treble works, at least making some changes to the overall sound, relatively high pitch. Anywhere I can begin to diagnose this problem?

What’s your level of experience? If I say, start by checking voltages at each stage, do you know what I mean?

Detailed photos will help us help you.

Hoffman's first law... "If it were wired correctly it would be working". Hoffman has an excellent method for verifying the wiring is correct. It involves printing the schematic and layout and using a highlighter. I know that procedure is on his forum and it may be on the same webpage where you got the documents for the Stout.

I have built 14 tube amps, Soldano Slo 100 w was my latest but this is the one that I have some trouble with. I suspect it might be grounding issues. I have changed all the parts three times, even the filter caps. I have measured all the voltages and I am as far as I see now, within tolerable limits. I know I must have overlooked something, I just can't see what it is.

I am though a bit uncertain what "ground bus" means, as opposed to "ground lug"?

The strange thing is that the noise change character, from a 50 hum to a much higher thinner sound at the moment at the moment. The volume and treble knobs react, and at full volume the noise is fairly lower.
