5879 & mosfet CF V1 position

Post by 10thTx »

Anyone try a 5879 with a mosfet CF in the preamp V1 position followed by a typical TMB tone stack? I've done this further down the signal chain but not in the preamp V1 position.

IF so, did you still get the touch sensitivity of the 5879 tube?

With respect, 10thtx

The cathode resistor for the mosfet should be 56k not 120k

I have tried a 5879 with a cathode follower with driving a tone stack and a triode-pentode morph control (for extra gain adjustment and other effects) - and it works exceedingly well. Could easily work with a source follower
