230V vs 240V

Post by Smokebreak »

I reckon I know the answer, but I've got to ship an amp to EU, with 230V mains. The PT I want to use has 120V and 240V primaries, and looking around at aftermarket offerrings, it seems a lot of PTs stick with 240V, as the "non-US" offering. I've only seen a few with 230V AND 240V. If the tolerance over there is +/- 10%, I figure I'd be better off using the 240V primary offerings. I imagine it's all close enough for rockandroll, but just wanted to check what you guys do...

240V will be okay. You will only see a small drop in the rated secondary voltages, depending on how you want to load it up

most of western europe uses 230v, but the tolerance is usually +10% to -6%

The UK is also 50hz, not 60, so 60hz stuff runs hotter!
