Peavey Ranger fusings

Post by Smokebreak »

A buddy is having me fix his Ranger that "doesn't work".
I had to call PV for the scheme, so here it is for future reference.
There is no mains wiring/fusing on the scheme for whatever reason(unless I'm just missing something), but all the other internal fusings are there(HT, heaters..all FA) The mains fuse is labled, on the amp panel, as a Fast 5A. It was blown. Everything else in the amp passed a visual inspection at least, so I fired it up with a new 5A SLow fuse. Amp works and sounds really good, actually. The lead channel is impressive, and cleans are great.
Anyways, I noticed that a lot of other Peaveys use FA fusing for the mains. Now, there is a thermistor in there(again, not on the scheme), so I'm assuming this is why they can use the FA fuses. But why? Why not just use a slow fuse??
I'm still skeptical to give it back to him, after I gave him the ol "When a fuse blows...."spiel, directly after he said, "I think it just needs a new fuse"
What's the rub??

I would have to guess that this is a 4 output tube amp since it carrys a 5 amp fuse?
Can you post up the schematic?
